ZTE Axon Max 2 With Snapdragon 625 SoC & 6” Display Pops Up on GFXBench

It looks like ZTE may soon release the successor to the Axon Max from last year, as the new model has made an appearance on the GFXBench graphics benchmark database. Carrying the codename C2017, the smartphone has also been recently certified by the China Compulsory Certification (3C), which suggests the handset might be announced in the near future.

The Axon Max 2 is going to sport a 6” display like its predecessor, with the same 1080 x 1920 Full HD resolution.  In terms of processing power, the Axon Max 2 will be a decent upgrade over its predecessor, with the octa-core Snapdragon 625 chipset under the hood. In terms of memory, the phablet is going to include a generous 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There is no info yet on memory expansion though, but since the Axon Max does include a microSD card slot, we’d say it is very much possible that the Axon Max 2 will also feature memory expansion. Thanks to the more powerful chipset inside, the 13MP rear camera on the phablet will be able to capture videos at up to 4K resolution. The front-facing camera too is going to offer identical 13MP resolution, which is great news for selfie fanatics.

When it comes to connectivity, the Axon Max 2 will no doubt offer all the modern connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 4G LTE and even NFC. In addition to these, you can also look forward to a USB Type-C port, like a number of new smartphones released this year. Another feature that is very likely to be present is a fingerprint sensor, perhaps positioned at the back like on the Axon Max. On the software front, the Axon Max 2 is expected to ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, with the company’s MiFavor custom skin layer on top. You can expect the ZTE Axon Max 2 to go official by the end of the year, possibly in December.
