LeEco and Coolpad to Announce the Cool 1 Flagship Smartphone on August 16

Now, you may be wondering why LeEco and Coolpad are teaming up for a new flagship smartphone. That’s because LeEco is now the largest shareholder at Coolpad, with a 28.9% stake. As a result, LeEco CEO Jia Yueting is now the Chairman of the board as well as the Nominating Committee of Coolpad.
The Cool 1 had recently been certified by TENAA in China, so we do have an idea of what to expect from the upcoming flagship smartphone. It is going to feature a 5.5-inch display with Quad HD resolution, like a number of other flagship smartphones released this year. Under the hood, it is going to pack Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 quad-core 64-bit chipset with the Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB of RAM. The handset will offer ample 64GB of internal storage and come equipped with a 3500mAh capacity battery inside. There are no details available regarding the cameras yet, but we do know that the handset is going to feature a dual camera setup at the back. As you can see in the image published by TENAA, the Cool 1 will come with a fingerprint sensor at the back, positioned directly below the dual camera setup at the back. A dual-tone LED flash can also be clearly seen.
Going forward, LeEco and Coolpad are going to be using a dual-brand strategy, wherein the two brands will co-exist. However, each brand is going to target a different market segment, so that there is no cannibalization of sales.
