Sony India launches Cyber-shot RX100 V at Rs 79,990

Expanding its Cyber-shot RX100 series, Sony India today announced a new flagship compact camera - RX100 V. The new flagship camera from Sony is already available in all Sony Centers, Alpha flagship and other major electronic stores at Rs 79,990.
Design
With the new RX100 V, Sony ensures a combination of high performance yet a pocket-friendly design. The camera is equipped with high-contrast 2.35 million dot XGA OLED Tru-Finder, ensuring true-to-life image. Further adding to the portability, The electronic viewfinder (EVF) conveniently retracts in and out of the camera body based on user's preference, and features optics with ZEISS® T* Coating. Interestingly, it comes with built-in Wi-Fi and NFC compatibility. One also gets access to Sony's range of Play Memories Camera Applications.

Exmor RS CMOS sensor (1.0 type)
Starting the feature pile, the new RX100 V comes with a newly developed 1.0-type stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor with a DRAM chip, a ZEISS® Vario-Sonnar T* 24-70 mm F1.8 to 2.8 large aperture lens, and an enhanced image processing system with a new front-end LSI chip that maximizes processing speed, expands the memory buffer and optimizes image quality, in particular at high ISO settings. Other features include 4K video recording, super slow motion recording at up to 960 fps etc.

Auto Focus
Sony claims this camera to offer amazing image quality with new Fast Hybrid AF system couples with the world's fastest AF acquisition at 0.05 seconds. On top of this, it also boasts world's highest number of AF points on sensor with 315 points covering approximately 65 per cent of the frame. Further, this camera can also shoot at speeds up to 24 fps at full 20.1 megapixel resolution for up to 150 shots with AF/AE tracking. The new RX100 V can also switch automatically between continuous and single-shot AF modes.

Other than this, for crystal clear images of fast moving subjects, this new flagship also has high speed Anti-Distortion shutter which helps minimizing the 'rolling shutter' effect. We also get high brightness levels, thanks to a wide open aperture combined with faster shutter speeds.
Now users can freely select the initial magnification ratio when shooting in a mode with Focus Magnifier. Users can also select between "focus point” and "center of display” for the location of Focus Magnifier.

4K Recording and Slow Motion
As mentioned before, the new RX100 V can shoot 4K with full pixel readout and without any pixel binning. This is done by an XAVX S codec which record video at high data rate up to 100 Mbps during 4K and 50 Mbps during full HD shooting. One can also save a frame from video and save it as a still image at a resolution of 8 megapixel from 4K recording and 2MP from full HD recording.
Coming to the super slow motion recording, this camera can shoot at up to 40 times slower than the standard rate, claims Sony India. One has an option to choose from 960fps, 480fps and 240fps frame rates with playback options of either 50p or 25p.
To summarize, the fast hybrid AF, Phase detection AF, 4K recording capabilities, 315 focus points all make it in for a professional movie recording experience on this piece of technology. Lastly, one can allow to freely set the first three characters of saved file names for better organisation and search.
