MWC 2017 | LG G6 launched | Specifications and more

LG G6, the much-teased flagship smartphone is now official. LG has announced the smartphone at MWC 2017 and its a big departure from the company's previous flagship devices. LG G6, as expected, ditched the modular design seen with G5 and goes in favour of a unibody metal and glass design.

LG says it hasn't had the types of failures that Samsung has had with the Note 7 batteries, yet wireless carriers are seeking greater safety assurances for all phones they sell. Samsung recalled millions of Note 7 phones after dozens overheated and caught on fire.

LG's new phone was also distinguished by being the first Android device announced to include Google Assistant - the search giant's voice-controlled rival to Apple's Siri - beyond Google's own Pixel phone

The all-new LG G6 runs the LG UX 6.0 based on the Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and sports a unique 5.7-inch display. Unique because the smartphone's 'FullVision' display has an odd 1440x2880 pixel resolution along with rounded corners. The screen-to-body ratio has also been increased as there are minimal bezels on top and bottom. What's interesting is that the smartphone has a form factor of a 5.2-inch smartphone. To achieve this, the G6's display has an 18:9 aspect ratio, rather than the 16:9 used by most handsets.

Delivering processing muscle to the LG G6 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM. It also includes 32GB of inbuilt storage.
For imaging duties, LG G6 comes with a dual camera setup at the back. Comprised of two 13MP sensor modules, the rear camera arrangement is complemented by laser autofocus, triple-axis OIS and LED flash. Users can also shoot 4K resolution videos from the handset. For selfie-lovers out there, a 5MP front shooter is also available with 100-degree wide angle lens and f/2.2 aperture.
